Great Blasket Island Cottage felt embroidery

A traditional stone cottage leans into the steep hillside on the Great Blasket Island, situated at the far end of the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry.

I hand-stitched felt shapes to the background, then embroidered the details and framed the scene in a 4 inch/10cm wooden hoop, which I hand painted.

Each little landscape is made individually, and no two are exactly the same, but the Blasket Cottage design will closely resemble these photos.
