Sew a sweet Christmas angel ornament to hang on the tree or stand on your Christmas table. She is 12cm (just under 5 inches) tall.

The angel is a fairly detailed project so some sewing experience will be helpful, but the pattern includes alternative suggestions to make an easier but equally cute version.

Step by step instructions and photos lead you through the process, with actual-size templates ready to print at home after purchase.

Alternative Options

If you'd like to make a quicker and easier version of the angel, here are some ideas for modifying the pattern.

* Leave out the legs ~ they're not visible if the angel is standing ~ they just add a cute detail to the hanging ornament. You could just gather and sew the lace trim to the lower edge of the body, like a petticoat.

* Leave out the hanging loop if the angel is only going to stand on a surface.

* Replace the hair ornaments and the dangly heart detail with pre-made flowers, beads or trims.

* You could use plastic eyes or brads instead of the felt eyes.

* For closed eyes, use 2 strands of thread to stitch the curves and 1 for the lashes.
