I recently finished a small batch of these girls. I call them Everyday Angels because they wear coats and skirts rather than long robes, their accessories are handbags rather than halos, and their wings are very light and subtle.
A friend of mine once met an old lady who seemed to know her and comforted her during a difficult time, then vanished without trace (impossible on a small island). My friend was sure an angel had visited her, and I was thinking of this story and others like it when I created these little ornaments.
I had fun choosing colours for the felt coats to go with the patterned skirts. The embroidered faces all come out slightly different, and I tried out a few hair colours, but the dark brown seems to look best with most of the outfits.
These are all one-of-a-kind because of their unique faces and features, so I'm putting some here on the website, and some, including the three shown here, on Etsy.
